We Sorrow Not As Though We Have No Hope

There are certain times of the year that those who have buried loved ones, have a hard time dealing with. It may be an upcoming birthday, anniversary, or the holidays.

But if we are in Christ Jesus, we know that the day will come when we will be united with Him, and reunited with those also in Christ that have gone on before us.

Because Jesus is our hope, he is our comfort, he is our peace, and as he resurrected from the dead, all those in him will do the same. Jesus is the resurrection, so even though we do grieve, we continue to believe that one day we will be together with him.

The Sadducees didn’t believe in life after death, they didn’t believe in spiritual things or a coming resurrection, so when someone passed, they didn’t have the hope that saints do.

Many today don’t believe in God, or his son, Jesus Christ, the resurrection or the afterlife. Some don’t believe in a real heaven or hell. They do not have the blessed hope that saints of God do, so they sorrow with no hope, no peace, no comfort, no healing of broken hearts. But there is a Savior who is more abundantly able to help.

Apostle Paul said in 1Thessalonians 4:13-18; But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep that ye sorrow not even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that, Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this, we say unto you, by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive, and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

What a beautiful picture of hope, the Lord himself is coming, and what a day that will be!

V. 18; Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Yes, there is hope, there is life after death, there is a glorious day coming when those in the grave will hear His voice, and the sound of the trumpet, and come forth!

For Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life, he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

We shall behold him, and dwell with him forever more! Comfort one another with these words.

God bless.
