Don’t Forget Peter

Pearl of Great Price Tabernacle

Pastor Sue

The first day of the week,(Sunday), after the Passover, some of the women went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. When they got there, they discovered that the stone was rolled away, an angel was there, and Jesus wasn’t. The angel said, Mark 16:6; Don’t be afraid, you seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified, he is risen, he is not here, behold the place where they laid him. V. 7; But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goes before you into Galilee, there shall you see him, as he said unto you.

Jesus had already told them where to meet after his resurrection, but why did the angel specifically say, and Peter? Make sure you tell Peter, don’t forget Peter!

But wait a minute! What do you mean tell Peter? Simon Peter? The one who denied Jesus? Andrew’s brother? You can’t be serious! Why, he rebuked Jesus and said he wasn’t gonna be crucified, then he fell asleep during the garden prayer meeting, not to mention the fact that he cut off someone’s ear when the soldiers came to arrest Jesus!

Are you sure Jesus still wants to see him? I just don’t know about that. In my opinion, I think he should just go home and stay there. What good can he do now, he’s already made a mess of things. You seen him start sinking when he got out of boat and thought he could walk on water, why if Jesus hadn’t of grabbed him, he would have went under!

Peter, always sticking his foot in his mouth, but then told Jesus he wasn’t going to let him wash his feet, Peter, who likes to talk back, and be the leader. Are we sure the angel meant Simon Peter? The disciple? We better double check that, it just don’t sound right.

We see this time and time again, when someone messes up, there will be good, godly Saints that will remind them of their faults, their past mistakes, and take on the role of judge and jury. Give their opinion, I don’t think God will use that person anymore, they failed too much, they keep messing up. The person who messed up is already feeling bad enough, already condemning themselves, already feel like the lowest of the low. They are already torn, and troubled, and mad at themselves for their failures and shortcomings.

Many are told that God won’t use them anymore, or that they might as well forget about any form of ministry. People want to throw others away, but Jesus said All those that come to him, He will not cast out! When man wants to condemn, God said there is no condemnation. When man wants to remind you of your past sins and failures, Jesus said

it’s all under the blood. Go tell his disciples, AND Peter! Don’t forget Peter! Jesus wants to see him! Jesus wants to have fellowship with him. Jesus wants to converse with him, Jesus has already prayed for him, that his faith don’t fail, and when you are converted Peter, you will strengthen your brethren, Jesus wants to bring restoration! Yes! That Peter! the Lord has need of him. He will be useful in the kingdom of God.

Proverbs 24:16; A righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again.

Keep rising, keep going forward! Don’t give up because you mess up! Get up!

God bless
